Pupusas Mama Tita is a beloved Salvadoran and Latin American restaurant nestled in the heart of Garland, TX. Known for authentic, home-style cooking that transports diners straight to the vibrant flavors of El Salvador, this cozy eatery offers a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for family gatherings or casual meals.
The star of the menu is, without a doubt, the pupusa—a traditional Salvadoran stuffed tortilla that Pupusas Mama Tita elevates with generous fillings and perfect textures. Highlights include the Pupusas de Arroz, boasting a tender rice-based tortilla that cradles tasty fillings like Chicharron and Cheese or their mouthwatering Carne Asada Salvadoran Style. The “revueltas pupusas,” a delightful mix of beans, cheese, and meat, come highly recommended by loyal customers who praise their rich, savory flavors and perfectly melted cheese.
Beyond pupusas, their menu showcases other Salvadoran favorites such as the Fajita de Res and Fajita de Pollo, each served with fresh salad, aromatic rice, refried beans, and soft corn tortillas. For those craving hearty soups, the weekly specials like Caldo de Gallina (chicken soup) on Fridays, Caldo de Res (beef soup) on Saturdays, and Caldo de Pata Menudo on Sundays offer deep, comforting flavors infused with traditional spices.
Accompany your meal with expertly crafted Refrescos Naturales such as horchata, tamarindo, piña, or maranon, each drink bursting with fresh, natural sweetness and a perfect balance of flavors. Fans of seafood will delight in the Camarones a la Plancha and Coctel de Camarones, offering a savory oceanic twist to the menu’s hearty dishes.
The dining experience at Pupusas Mama Tita reflects a genuine, home-cooked warmth. Customers frequently share how the food tastes “as if your grandma cooked it,” emphasizing the authenticity and comfort that the kitchen delivers with every dish. The pace is friendly and efficient, with to-go orders ready in under 15 minutes, catering to those on the move while never compromising quality or flavor.
Patrons praise the generous portions and perfectly stuffed pupusas, whether it’s the classic cheese or spinach variety, capturing the essence of Salvadoran cuisine. While a note on the seasoning of the cabbage—suggested to be slightly less salty—reflects a commitment to honest feedback, the overall sentiment radiates satisfaction and eagerness to return. The welcoming, community-oriented vibe is enhanced by the friendly staff, some even personally connected to the neighborhood, making every visit feel like a meal among friends and family.
For those seeking vibrant Latin American flavors showcased with authenticity, passion, and heart, Pupusas Mama Tita in Garland is a must-visit destination that promises a soulful and unforgettable culinary experience.
Pupusas MamaTita are one of the best Pupusas I’ve ever had. Their “revueltas pupusas” are a must have! Their carne asada (steak) and mojarra (fish) are also as good as any other place. Very home made cooking as if your grandma cooking. Overall they have a great menu, and live up to the expectation of great Salvadorian ????????food and amazing pupusas!
My daughter found this place to get our cravings for pupusas satisfied!!! My personal favorite is the spinach one. I ordered one of each, and they were all a good size, perfectly stuffed, and so delicious. The wait time was under 15 minutes for our to go order.
The place is really good and the food is always hitting in the best spots! i come with my family all the time and the nephes of the owner actually goes to school with me! really kind people
Order pupusas and flavor were good. The only complaint is that the cabbage is a bit salty and might need to go easy on the salt.
Have never gone wrong with anything here. Pupusas and yuca frita are my favorite. Gracias !
My brother recommended Mama Tita, he said they have some good pupusas. As Salvadorans we know what good pupusas are! Mama Tita did not disappoint! I loved it! Both my husband and I ordered the Plato Tipico, come with 1 pupusa, 2 tamales (1 corn, 1 chicken) We substituted the chicken tamal for another pupusa (no extra charge) the plate also includes yuca frita, carnitas and a slice of platano (huge slice). Of course, side of black beans and crema. It is a lot of food and everything was delicious! We were not able to finish it. The restaurant is cute itself, it was clean. And service was amazing! Overall, I definitely recommend it! Oh yeah, they have a $2 surcharge for paying with card but they have signs everywhere to inform you not sneak it in your bill like other places. To avoid this fee, you may want to pay in cash.
Amazing food! Very authentic and fresh. Despite arriving near closing time, the food was still very fresh. Can’t wait to go back!
Found my favorite salvadorean spot in garland. There pupusas are really good
